who the hell are you?

howdy, i’m stu hill, class of ‘02. i’m a third-generation aggie and a 2%’er. the odds that both of my grandfathers interacted with reveille 1 (the mutt) are pretty high.

i’ve always thought it was weird that aggies hold on to century-old traditions that have never changed but seem to forget that reveille started as a mutt. as a fan of mutts and an owner of several over the years, i started this project for a few different reasons:

  1. To raise money for animal shelters across texas. ($1.02 from every merchandise order will benefit an animal shelter in Texas. check our social feeds for updates.)

  2. to remind aggies where the reveille tradition started.

  3. it’s fun to have fun.

over the past few years, i’ve printed out “make rev a mutt again”  hats and shirts to wear to games at kyle field, and the response i’ve gotten has been overwhelming. i bring extra “make rev a mutt again” hats with me to games to hand out to people who comment that they love my shirt or hat, and their excitement and recognition is what led me to start this project.

what’s the plan?

just like students elect yell leaders and student government positions, they would elect reveille. my idea is that the students would elect a new reveille every four years.

three mutt candidates would be selected from three different shelters across the state. for example, if you divide texas into three distinct regions, we’ll have a representative mutt from each area. these candidate mutts will be vetted beforehand to ensure they have the right temperament for the position.

then, the students vote, the new rev is sworn in, and the former rev could be auctioned off (to a former student who will appreciate her) to help raise money for animal shelters across texas. when this plan goes into action, you’ll raise awareness of hundreds of adoptable mutts and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for animal shelters across texas.
